A coalition of Civil Society Organisations under the aegis of Concerned Northern Forum has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider, Dr. Emmanuel Musa, a 34-year-old philanthropist and founder of Emnamu Foundation, for national honours.
The group, comprising 75 Civil Society Organisations across Northern Nigeria, said national honours will be fitting as a form of compensation if conferred on Dr. Musa.
While justifying the call, the group noted that at just 34 years of age, Musa had demonstrated astonishing and unprecedented humanitarian services, as such considering him for a national honour will not only trigger him to do more but encourage other youths to commit themselves to greater services in their communities.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, ahead of the Democracy Day celebrations, Comrade Abdulsalam Moh’d Kazeem, the spokesman of the group, commended Dr. Emmanuel for his tireless efforts in providing basic amenities such as water and shelter to victims of insecurity in his home state of Adamawa and other parts of the country.
He said, “We are thrilled to identify with a young man who is so passionate about positively touching the lives of the less privileged around him. At just 34 years of age, Dr. Emmanuel has demonstrated an astonishing and unprecedented generosity that has bettered people’s livelihoods as well as enhanced their welfare.
“He remains the only person of his age in Nigeria without political exposure who has impacted Nigerians this much. With hundreds of boreholes scattered across the North-east and the provision of shelters for displaced persons as a result of Boko Haram insurgency.”
The group, while also calling on other Nigerians to emulate the youthful philanthropist for his humanitarian services, pointed out that humanitarian services are better than preaching religion.
Among the recent interventions touted to have been undertaken by Dr. Musa, according to the Concerned Northern Forum, is the donation of roofing sheets, timber, cash, and other relief materials to over 50 victims of a rainstorm in Pella, Hong LGA of Adamawa State.
The group, through Kazeem, the spokesman further stressed that this is in addition to the several other humanitarian interventions undertaken through the courageous virtues of Dr. Emmanuel, which equally included his award of scholarship to indigent students in tertiary institutions among other interventions in the educational sector which has improved the quality of education in his home state of Adamawa.
While urging the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to bestow on Dr. Musa, a befitting national honour, the CNF insisted that, “What Dr. Musa has done at such his youthful age needs to be encouraged.”
Continuing, it added, “As a group representing the interest of Northern Nigerian youths, we are convinced that honouring Dr. Musa will encourage other Nigerians both young and old to also emulate his giant strides.”
